Okay, so I'm a bit behind the times in blogging on this event, but the Peace on Earth hunt is on in Second Life and it's loads of fun! Check out the official Peace on Earth blog-site for details and then get thyself to a starting point (there are 4 main ones). However, the hunt is circular so you can start off at any of the participating shops and then just follow the landmarks provided in each of the freebie globes.
Now, as with any freebie hunt, you might not like all of the items given, and to be honest some of the prizes I though were downright poorly made, but that's not the reason for the hunt. Getting good stuff is fun, but getting together will friends and making new ones, spreading the idea of Peace on Earth and discovering new shops and places within SL is what it's all about.
PLEASE!!!!! DO NOT drop your globes on the floor at the participating shops/malls and then leave them there for someone else to clean up. It looks nasty, you come across as inconsiderate and shop owners get angry. Most of the globes will go into your inventory as a folder (although a few will drop into your Objects folder). My suggestion, to keep your inventory from becoming over-run will folders, is that you create a folder for the hunt. Call it something like !POE HUNT ITEMS! (the exclaimation mark will move the folder up toward the top of your inventory) and periodically toss your globe folders inside it.
Also, please don't gripe in open chat (or in any group chats for that matter) if you don't like what a creator offers. That's the best way to ensure that that creator will no longer offer freebies or participate in events like this. Remember, it's not the freebie that's important, it's the meaning of the event itself. We don't have to celebrate Christmas to believe in Peace on Earth, so get involved and enjoy the hunt!
